Preserving the Past, Embracing the Future: A Journey through La Casa Veintidos

In the heart of Guanajuato, Mexico, the doors of a 1660 house open to a place where time stood still, honoring the history of a nation and a distinguished literary figure. La Casa Veintidos, founded in June 2022, offers an immersive and eco-friendly experience wrapped in timeless charm and a deep connection to its roots.

Literary Charm in Every Corner.

A TIMELESS TREASURE RESURRECTED

Architect Miguel Angel Ibarra Hernandez, trained in the timeless beauty of Florence, Italy, together with señora Celia the owner, have breathed new life into the almost ruined ancient dwelling. The painstakingly meticulous restoration process took 20 years, each step planned and executed with utmost care and respect for the cultural heritage of the area.

In fact, the work has been so well appreciated that the City of Guanajuato, the INAH , and the Collegiate Architect awarded La Casa Veintidos for the exceptional restoration work in November 2022. Each room has its unique personality, echoing characters from the timeless work of Miguel de Cervantes – Don Quixote,” one of the best-selling novel of all time and the second-most-translated book after the Bible.

SUSTAINABLE LUXURY, AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE

The founders of La Casa Veintidos, conscious of water scarcity in Mexico and particularly in Guanajuato, incorporated several environmentally friendly features. Solar water heaters on the roof and glass water bottles are just a couple of examples of their commitment to sustainability.

Cervantes’s influence permeates each room, their names reflecting the author’s immortal characters. Guests often choose their rooms based on these names, connecting with the story and spirit of “Don Quixote.” Highlights include Dulcinea, Quijote’s imagined love, and Rocinante, Quijote’s faithful horse.

A HEARTBEAT AWAY FROM THE CITY’S SOUL

Just a short 5-10 minute walk from the city’s main attractions, guests can take in the full view of Guanajuato from the hotel’s rooftop. The vibrant colors and structures of the city inspired a local painter from Guanajuato, now based in Sevilla, Spain, to create a large mural especially for La Casa Veintidos.

A DEEPER DIVE INTO HISTORY

One of the unique features of the hotel is its history, close proximity to city attractions, and its homage to one of the most influential Spanish writers in history. Guests can immerse themselves in the vibrant pulse of the local life, just 300 feet from Jardin Union and Teatro Juárez. The pedestrian Sopeña street outside the hotel is always brimming with people, adding to the unique experience.

THE GEM OF LA CASA VEINTIDOS

Rooms with a balcony overlooking Sopeña street offer a special charm. The Suite Maestro Enrique Ruelas, named in honor of one of the founders of the Festival Cervantino, stands unique, offering views towards the Subterranea.

In conclusion, La Casa Veintidos B&B provides a luxurious yet eco-conscious experience that simultaneously honors the Mexican heritage and the timeless classic “Don Quixote.” The hotel’s unique history, close proximity to city attractions, and its homage to one of the most influential writers in history, make it a must-visit destination for the discerning traveler.
